I want to upgrade the processor on my old Lenovo laptop; is it possible? or I have to buy a new laptop.

I've been using an Intel Core i3 processor for the past 5 years and would like to upgrade to the latest processor, something like Intel Evo Platforms; if this is possible, please let me know, or I'll have to buy a new laptop.
